This headless statue, a bronze artwork by Carlos Verdú, was an initiative of the Valencian Order of Knights of the Cape. The Order donated the work at the city in 2009. The statue found a permanent place in the Glorieta Park, a nineteenth century park at the border of the old town, full of classical statues and neat lawns.

“Although the Knights of the Cape sound like super-heroes, they are in fact just a group of elderly friends who eat out a lot and complain about the loss of values in modern society; a loss that they combat by wearing capes.”
Unfortunately for them, today the park is very popular for kids and youngsters. The headless statue looks out on a playground and two magnificient climbing trees, disturbing its peace. Might be better without a head, in that case.
